Part Three starts with the amazing D-100. They made 50 of these and they bear the first 50 serial numbers following the 1 millionth Martin guitar. Wait until you see this. I got to actually play it.
Next we see the new wood models, cherry and 100% FSC-certified mahogany. The OMCE Mahogany model comes with this cool Mi-Si Simple Jack. No batteries; charge this thing up and get a whole gig’s worth of power.
Next is the David Crosby 12-string, modeled after the original modified D-18 6-string that Crosby played early in his career. After that we take a look at the size 5-18 Marty Robbins guitar, a replica model of the guitar Marty played, with the state of Texas inlayed on the fingerboard. Onward to the Laurence Juber model, a beautiful, blonde big-leaf maple guitar with an ebony fingerboard and a D-TAR wave length pickup. It is just gorgeous. Then we get a look at the ukuleles and the new OXK X-series uke – a beautiful and really affordable Martin-class uke.
Stay Tuned! In Part Four Chris Thomas sits down and talks to us about the C.F. Martin: the company, the man and the guitars. I get to play the D-100 and the double-neck in a BareFootMusicNews exclusive. No one else there played them but me.
Part Five will be a very special interview with guitar legend Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna and The Jefferson Airplane. He was a real guitar hero for me when we were younger; we sit down and he tells us who his guitar hero is. Don’t miss it. There is a clickable link in the video to a playlist that will have all 5 parts of this great series from the Martin Booth at NAMM2010.
