Saturday would have been Django Reinhardt’s 100th birthday, The LA Times has a pretty good article about him. Stay tuned for an interview with Mary Faith of  John Pearse Strings, they have a new pick crafted to be the same size and shape as a “D’jango Button.” He played with a trouser button, round; this unique pick presents a much broader edge to the strings than traditional picks.

Check out YouTube for a selection of tunes and tributes. Happy Birthday, button man!

There is a really nice NPR story on Django Reinhardt by Tom Cole: Click here.

Fascinating and informative with some great links. Thanks, Tom; I learned a lot.
