One Thin Paradigm by Laura Williams
How many people out there have wanted to play an instrument, but have never found the time, opportunity or personal courage? Music knows no time limits or age restrictions. You can still find good music stores with instructors, most likely right up the road from you, wherever you are. Then there’s the internet with its plethora of sites for learning. It might take some time to find the one that suits you, but if you’re the kind of person who would rather stay at home, this type of lesson might be perfect for you.
Whichever path you take, though, in your quest to learn how to play an instrument, be aware that it does require a huge amount of effort and dedication. It’s not something that you’ll learn overnight, I’m sorry to tell you. It is, however, something that will astonish you, the first time you hit that chord correctly in transition from one to another. You’ll be amazed at yourself and honestly, couldn’t we all use a little self amazement?
Don’t deny yourself any longer. Whatever instrument has been calling to you, go to your nearest music store and try it out, ask questions about it and find out how much lessons are while you’re at it. What do you have to lose? A little time and money? Nothing that you wouldn’t lose at any other pursuit for happiness. In the end, whether you continue your study of music or not, you’ll have taken the chance. You’ll be able to say you tried…and whether you realize it or not, you’ll have gained something quite extraordinary…an understanding of the magic that is music.
