When he was young, Flea was provided music education and an instrument in public school, and he cherished both. Budget restrictions make that impossible in most schools these days, so he helped found the non-profit music school, The Silverlake Conservatory of Music in California.
The musician noticed that some of his students at the music school were struggling with the cheap instruments they were bringing with them and decided to do something about it. The Fleabass was born, and is available in Junior and Full-Scale sizes and colorful, high-gloss finishes. Dual cutaways in the solid alder body and fully adjustable chrome bridge/tailpiece are standard features, along with a solid maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard and Flea’s autograph and signature doodles on the headstock.
The signed Fleabass guitars will help raise money and awareness for the Conservatory, which offers scholarships and affordable music lessons to children and families who otherwise could not afford them. They will be on sale at the Conservatory until supplies run out. To purchase a signed Fleabass, or learn more about supporting the cause, please call The Silverlake Conservatory of Music at 323.665.3363 or check their website for more information.
