You know the bully? Sometimes it’s a thug, pushing you in the schoolyard, and sometimes a pinch faced balding pseudo-intellectual trying to make you look stupid in class. Or at work. They come in all shapes and sizes. They are self hating monsters that think they have to keep others in their place. I allowed one of those monsters to get under my skin once. Screwed me up for years. But I finally got my anger out by writing a song about it. And it really felt good.
Revenge by The Blue Monsters
Words by Paul Bourgeois. Music by Eric Schwandt
Destiny, my friend and foe,
Evil follows wherever we go.
“This isn’t me,” “I didn’t know,”
Destiny follows wherever we go.
Now he walks the path, he roams alone, a death and
a lifetime from his home
The best revenge, they say, is to live well
but the more you gain the more you sell
and what good is life if you live in hell
so the angel thought, and the angel fell
He mistook the devil for a man
A clown who’d kicked him when he was down
And years after the wound remained
so he sought the fool out to cause him pain
“This isn’t me,” his hand on the gun
“I didn’t know,” he said but didn’t run
It was too late the man was dead
His enemy gone, his hands all red
Now he walks the path, he roams alone, a death and a lifetime from home
