Once upon a time I was a massive Bon Jovi fan, first witnessing them live at Castle Donington back 1985. A year later Bon Jovi turned the rock world on its head with the release of “Slippery When Wet,” an album that featured the slick global hits of “You Give Love A Bad Name” and “Livin’ On A Prayer.”

Summing Up and Saying Farewell to Sonisphere Festival UK

After the night before, there wasn’t much chance of me getting much sleep. The sun was shining on my tent making it a sweatbox and many people wanted to come and say hello by shaking my tent and saying, “Wakey wakey, Marky.” Time for the tables to be turned. A cold shower soon got me alive and kicking.

There wasn’t much time to sleep off the hangovers as the music started early on the Saturday. In the Bohemia marquee tent Swedish metallers Enforcer were onstage at the ungodly time of 11.30am. Sensibly staying off the booze for a few hours, Enforcer soon woke me up with their fine set of Maidenesque tunes.

The Sonisphere Festival is a travelling circus of rock which routes itself around Europe. Now in its second year, those who attended the Eastern European shows were treated to the big four of thrash (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax). We weren’t to be so lucky in the UK, but who can argue with such headline acts such as Alice Cooper, Rammstein and Iron Maiden.
