15th Annual Magnolia Fest Sings of the Spirit of the Suwannee
The 15th annual Magnolia Fest will take place October 20-23 in the beautiful Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. Though it is now under new ownership, the line-up is noteworthy and the fine entertainment quality of previous years is expected. BFMN will have team members on site to bring you news, reviews and photos so - if you can’t be there yourself - watch this space!
A Parade will take place on Saturday morning starting at 11 am. This year you are invited to decorate your golf carts and join in the Parade!

It’s that time of year again, fall in North Central Florida…which means that it’s time for MagnoliaFest! Of all the festivals held at the magnificent Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, MagFest is, without a doubt, my favorite, boasting a very diverse lineup with fun for all ages. This year marks the 15th consecutive running of MagFest and my 10th year in a row attending. Simply put, I love this music park and would recommend to all that it’s worth checking out!

First Annual Welcome to Rockville Festival Sizzles in Jacksonville
Photos and Review by Jim Messer
Sunday, May 8, was a little more than Mother’s Day. It brought the very first “Welcome to Rockville” festival to Metropolitan Park in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. It was hot… in several ways. First, you must understand that summer in Florida starts in late January. It gets hot. Like Africa hot. Add to that, ash from a giant forest fire was falling like a winter’s snow through most of the show. Not to mention the bands, who absolutely lit it up.

Wrapping Up at Wanee

Saturday at the Wanee Festival started with some heavy rain. Being a giant wuss, I stayed in the safety of dry areas, primarily my car. The rain blew away and what was left was a steamy, hot Florida April day. I headed off to the Peach stage to listen to Taj Mahal. As I walked up, the music started and blues kicked in. Once I got to the photo pit entrance, I got the for-real blues. I walked up and showed my credentials; the guard apologized profusely and said that due to “issues,” I could only go in through the front gate. To do this, I would have to walk through a few thousand people that had paid over $200 and had been waiting patiently to see Taj Mahal. So, I didn’t shoot, but I did get to sit and listen to Taj Mahal. His brand of blues is absolutely tremendous.

Friday Fun at the Wanee Festival
Review and Photos by Jim Messer
Last weekend the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park & Campground held the jewel of their festival lineup, Wanee Festival. The campground boasts over 500 acres for top-of-the-line camping. They have primitive and electric/water sites, trails for hiking, numerous bat houses and of course, the beautiful Suwannee River. When it comes to a music festival, there is truly no finer place in Florida to have one.
