Monday Morning Musical Musings with Paul Bourgeois

04/15/10 23:06, by , Categories: Monday Morning Musical Musings, Paul Bourgeois

This space is usually occupied by a great post from our friend from Finland, Paul. Unfortunately I fragged his post and he is busy this week molding (or should I say moulding) young minds. So I thought I would take his post this week and re-introduce him to you.  He’ll be back next week and I will try to not frag the database again without a backup. Special Thanks to Wakitu, after  a borked software upgrade followed by a backup-restore, she set things back to right, reposting posts we hadn’t lost entirely.

Thanks for understanding,

DanG

Paul Bourgeois lives in Finland.  He is a member of the band “The Blue Monsters” and teaches creative writing at Kymenlaakson Politechnic, University of Applied Sciences. Paul’s weekly column on BareFootMusicNews, “Musical Musings” is one of our most popular features. The column enjoys a worldwide demographic of both musicians and non-musicians. With a casual “friend-of-mine” style, Paul entertains and educates in a language we can all understand.

You can read more of  Paul’s Musical Musings here .
Read them all, you won’t be disappointed. Promise.

Make us a part of your Monday Morning, read Paul while listening to Monday Morning Blues.

In part to make up for my inexcusable wacking of Paul’s post and partially cause it is so cool I give you…

Tasty Riffs From NAMM 2010 #4, a compilation of cool guitar licks from the winter show.

I have a lot of fun making these, I hope you like them.

Hey, Dan,
I am tickled pink by the opportunity to write for your site. I tell my students that you have to be brutally honest about yourself when you write. You have to lay yourself out naked for your reader. With that in mind, I will present a song by the Blue Monsters. That’s my band. Playing music makes my sane… er… saner…

Lost in Shangrila was the second song we ever wrote. I spent some time in Darjeeling, India, and then in Kathmandu, Nepal, during the Rebellion of 1990. This is a pretty fun recording we made a while ago.

P.S. Hayley Hart, who is mentioned, is an incredible and gorgeous blues musician from Canada. I was trying to encourage her to cover one of my songs so she might allow me to cover one of hers. It’s a sham I can’t just pop over there and jam with her live. Nuff said…

“Lost in Shangrila” by the Blue Monsters - Eric Schwandt, guitar. Paul Bourgeois, harmonica/vocals.
